The GPUSBC Board adopted rule changes for the Open tournament that WILL affect each and every bowler, and changes procedures for payments etc.

1. All entry fees must accompany the forms as they are turned in... no longer will entrants be allowed to turn in an entry, or multiple entries and 'settle up' later.

2. Singles MUST be bowled with your first doubles event... does not matter if your singles was paid with another team bowling later and you are on an extra doubles team bowling earlier... your singles must be bowled with your first doubles.

3. Only re-entries will be allowed after the deadline date has passed. All re-entry team members/ doubles bowlers must meet the eligiblity rule and have been entered into the tournament prior to the deadline.

4. The divisions have been reduced from five (2 years ago), to three (last year) to now only two... Scratch and Handicap. Handicap Division is 90% of 200 and only open to teams with a 799 or less average, Doubles teams with a 399 or less average and singles/ all events to 199 and under averages. The Scratch Division is open/ optional to any averages of bowlers/ teams/ doubles, and entering the scratch event must be declared on the entry form. The handicap division is only open to those under the average cap...

These changes have been made in an effort to return 'prestige' to the tournament.... the Board had concerns that certain transgressions and occurences in the past couple of years had a negative reflection on the tournament, and bowlers should be held accountable to turning in their entries with their fees and establishing rules to return credibility to the event. We realize this may cost entries but, bowlers are bound to turning in fees and deadlines to state and national tournaments and nobody seems to have issue with those events requiring them to so.

Thanks, and we hope you support our annual tournaments.

We sure had a fun time at this tournament. All certified women bowlers were invited to participate and the turnout was terrific! Many people got into the spirit of it and wore costumes. I had a blast!!! Can't wait for next year's tournament.

Greater Pasadena USBC and Greater Houston USBC will be co-hosts of the 2010 Youth State Tournament.

Alpha Lanes in Webster and Armadilla I in Pasadena have been selected as host bowling centers.

No word yet on which event we have, but, I am pretty sure it will be Team as there are 32 lanes and Alpha has 40...

We are excited to cooperate with Houston and the Texas State USBC in hosting the tournament.

<img src='/Providers/HtmlEditorProviders/Fck/FCKeditor/editor/images/smiley/msn/sad_smile.gif' alt='' Pay your money and take your chances...

Early session at Armidilla II and had a good shot nice series for me (641)..<img src='/Providers/HtmlEditorProviders/Fck/FCKeditor/editor/images/smiley/msn/teeth_smile.gif' alt='' Late session at Alpha for singles and doubles, lanes were dry to start with and got worse. Shot worst series in over a year <img src='/Providers/HtmlEditorProviders/Fck/FCKeditor/editor/images/smiley/msn/angry_smile.gif' alt='' for singles and slightly better for doubles after I went solely with my plastic 'ten pin' ball. That ball was hooking substantially more than my Black Widow does on normal lanes.<img src='/Providers/HtmlEditorProviders/Fck/FCKeditor/editor/images/smiley/msn/omg_smile.gif' alt=''

<img src='/Providers/HtmlEditorProviders/Fck/FCKeditor/editor/images/smiley/msn/lightbulb.gif' alt='' In a tournament like this they should at least give everyone the same chance. The lanes should be run between sessions so that later sessions have the same shot.

Good Luck to everyone!

I regards to the divisions last year wasn't there a fourth ? If two 149 bowlers want to bowl doubles or four 174 bowlers want to bowl teams what happens? Some want to bowl and if there is one one team why are they left out ? It reads doubles in division 3 350 - 379 teams divison 3 700 - 759. The 'lettle guy' is apart of UPUSPC ... correct ? I may not undersand how it works. Please help me understand !

Thank you for your time,

Had a good conversaton this morning during the youth league concerning tournament formats and got the interest level up to run a tournament some time soon... maybe a warm up for the city tournament...

I did want to host a fund raiser for Bowl for the Cure and the Komen Foundation for Breat Cancer, but, we can raise money for that in different ways...

We are almost in to Febuary already, and I think maybe mid-April is our best bet... probably some kind of All Star, bracket type tournament... not sure yet.

We will advise when we get something lined up...

Congratulations are in order for a couple of our local bowers that performed well @ the Mixed State tournament in Austin.

Bobby Browder scored the tournament's first 800+ series with an incredible 805 during doubles. He also had 709 in Team and 727 (?) in Singles for an awesome 2241 All Events. (Scores estimated but really close, awesome no matter a few pins difference).

Charlie Poteet had an almost 2,000 scratch All Events score with a 739 series in Team.

Great Bowling guys...

Coming soon, there will be a link for rules and entry forms for the State tournaments coming up this season.

I believe the link to these will be on the tournament's page. We have scanned the following entry forms/ rules sheets:

Bluebonnet Queens, Senior Queens, Masters, Senior Masters, Women's State and Open State.

The Open tournament is in Houston for 2009. Armadilla II and Alpha. Let's represent Pasadena well and get some teams formed up... Lots of people want to go, but many, never get asked... if you would like to go and need peopel, post your messages here and let's get some teams formed up.

On the bowl.com forum there was a group of guys from different parts of the country that hooked up and formed a National's team... they call themselves the Forum 5... and they have formed lifelong friendships based on meeting online via a message board.

Too many times it seems there is a fixation on only winning or competing at the highest level.. when in actuality, the elite bowlers are outnumbered by the regular guys... the 'Average Joes'... the Open State tournament is based on divisions by average, so you compete against bowlers of similar abilities.

Just a reminder that the Pasadena 500/600 Club will have it's annual Halloween Fun No-Tap Tournament on October 25th at 1PM at Armadilla Lanes. Entry forms should be at the front desk. If you do NOT have a form, need a partner OR just need some information regarding the club or tournament, you can contact Fran LeGrand, Liz Latham, or Patti Krueger (or even leave a message at the front desk for either of these ladies).
