Charlie Mills Charlie Mills was born and raised in La Porte , Texas on August 1, 1964 to Edwin and Betty Mills; he has one brother, Mike and two sisters, Sonya and Jean. Charlie attended La Porte Schools and graduated in 1982. He married Norma in November, 1993 and they have one son, Colton , age l0. Charlie has worked for Gulf Bayport Chemicals (formerly Lanza) since 1988. Charlie Mills has experienced a huge amount of success at every level of bowling competition. His 35 year career is decorated with achievements from 1978 as a Youth State champion, to this past fall during the Texas State Mixed Tournament hosted at Diamond and Armadilla Lanes, where he and the “Pasadena’s Finest” Team prevailed as Division 1 Team Event Champions. Charlie is fanatic about practicing to keep his game “in tune”. He is a familiar sight at all area bowling centers rolling a few games, working on hand positions, arm swing, timing, playing different shots on the lanes, all aspects of his game are monitored and kept sharp. This dedication to practicing his craft and the benefits he realizes from that practice is easily evidenced by reading his resume’ of accomplishments: 1978- YABA State Champion 3-time Champion- Tournament Bowlers of America (TBOA) 2-time- Pasadena Bowling Association All Events Champion (1986 & 2003) 1- Pasadena BA City Doubles champion (1986) Pasadena BA- Team member Mixed City Record- game and series (2004-05) and 3 Man Team City Record (2283 Series) In addition, Charlie has bowled more than 40- 300 games, including 1 in PBA competition, 9- 299 games, 1- 298 and 23- 800 Series. His best, 856, was high in the Houston BA for the 1999-2000 Season. An impressive list of accomplishments that pales against what may be the most outstanding aspect of Charlie’s game: His average for the last 10 years is an incredible 232, with a 4 year span (1999-2003) high of 240.5. Imagine the consistency, not to mention the talent, it takes to roll an average of a 721 series, EVERY TIME you bowled league for 4 years!! Simply Amazing! Charlie has been a 20 year member of the Professional Bowler’s Association and has competed in the entire Southwest region and even as far away as Florida and Nevada. Though he has yet to win a regional title (2-2nd’s), you can bet no one should underestimate the abilities of this fine bowler, as he is easily on the list of competitive favorites for every tournament he enters. |
