Elizabeth Ann (Clark) Latham

Elizabeth Ann ( Clark ) Latham was born January 17, 1956 in Houston , Texas . Liz has five younger sisters, Linda, Cathy, Jo, Doris and Carla. Her son, Mitch, has blessed her with the two most beautiful and charming grand-daughters that she treasures dearly. Liz has worked for Shell- Deer Park, as a carpenter and a process operator for 31 years. She is actively involved with her local union and has received recognition for her participation on several Safety related teams on which she has served.

Liz first began bowling at age seven or eight when her mother, Vel Brown, signed her and her oldest sister up for a youth league. She bowled for several years, but eventually drifted away due to becoming involved in softball and her love for that game as well. She left the sport of bowling for her younger sisters to enjoy.

Around 1975 Liz became reacquainted with bowling and signed up for the Latecomers league and WIBC. She initially bowled only on the Latecomers League beginning with their days at the old Pasadena Lanes, moving to the Fair Lanes Spencer Square center and eventually on to Armadilla Lanes. Liz has also bowled on various morning Ladies leagues and other night time leagues as well.

When her son, Mitch, began youth league bowling, she, as do many parents, became actively involved as a coach for the Young American Bowling Alliance. During this time of coaching and bowling Liz began her involvement with the administrative side of bowling. Liz had served her leagues as Sgt. at Arms, VP and President for several years and as a youth representative locally and at the YABA state convention. She foresees becoming involved in Youth bowling again when her granddaughters begin bowling in the very near future.

In the late 1980s, Liz followed her Mother’s footsteps and became active on the Pasadena WBA as a Director. Initially, she only served a short time but became involved again in the mid 1990s. She was a Director for several years, eventually served as 1st Vice President and then was elected to 3 consecutive terms as President. Liz was invaluable during the transition process as the local Associations had elected to merge and the Greater Pasadena USBC was formed, where she now serves as 2nd Vice President. She is also involved with Texas 600 Club and the Texas Women’s Bowling Writers as a Director and Officer.

Liz always recognized how special it was to have served as Pasadena WBA President, just as her Mother, Vel, did several years ago. Now, she is extremely proud to have been nominated and voted into another prestigious group of bowlers of which her Mother is also a member, the Pasadena Bowling Hall of Fame.
